Manage a Live Survey
Once a survey has been launched, admins have tools to monitor participation, adjust timelines, update participants, and manage communications.
This section walks through what you can and cannot do with a live survey.
Viewing Results During a Live Survey
- While the survey is open, results are limited.
- Anonymous surveys: Participation and completion rates by group will only be visible once a group has at least 6 participants.
- Attributed surveys: Results can be filtered by any group size.
- Reports display participation percentages and completion status, but do not show individual responses until the survey closes.
- Automated surveys (triggered by participant events) require the survey to be set as Attributed in the Settings tab before scheduling.
Editing Options in a Live Survey
- Questions: The survey introduction and questions cannot be edited once the survey is live.
- Participants:
- Add missing participants (e.g., if your employee list has changed, use Sync Employees in the Participants tab).
- Remove participants individually if necessary.
- For each participant, you can:
- Resend their unique survey link.
- Copy their link to send manually.
- Remove them, which deletes their response data.
- Scheduling:
- You cannot switch between fixed-date and automated schedules after a survey has gone live.
- You can extend or shorten the survey end date.
- To change the start date, anonymity, or introduction, you must first unschedule the survey and remove all participants.
- Changes are autosaved once unscheduled.
- Communications:
- Future communications can be edited, deleted, or rescheduled.
- Additional reminders can be added.
- Messages already sent cannot be edited.
- Settings:
- Anonymity setting (Anonymous vs. Attributed) cannot be changed once live.
- Tags cannot be added, updated, or removed while live.
Managing Survey Lifecycle
- Ending a Survey Early:
- Use the End Survey option in the Send tab if you need to close it before the scheduled end date.
- Once ended, participation tracking stops, and results become available in full.
- Exporting Links:
- From the Send tab, a CSV file can be downloaded with participant details and unique links for manual distribution.
Viewing a Closed Survey
Once a survey has closed, its results are no longer managed through the All Surveys list. Instead, SurveyAdmins and SurveyManagers can view outcomes by clicking Results beside the survey name.
- Works the same for Fixed-Date and Automated surveys.
- Clicking Results takes you directly into the Report for that survey.
From there, you can analyze participation, review indicators (e.g., eNPS, engagement), filter by groups, and export reports.
