Nominations and Approval

Some recognition programs use nominations instead of sending points or awards immediately. In these cases, the nomination must be reviewed and approved before points or awards are issued. The approval process ensures fairness and alignment with company standards.

How the Approval Queue Works

  • Approvers see the Approval Queue in their profile.
  • From the queue, they can:
    • Approve or decline nominations directly.
    • Expand into Admin Tools for detailed review.
  • Each nomination shows the recognition story, recipient, and details.

Approval Options

  • Static Approval: The points or award approved reflects the value nominated by the sender. Approvers can approve or decline the nomination. Not compatible with points funding.
  • Upgrade/Downgrade: Approvers can choose from pre-determined tiers of varying value. Best utilized when capturing nominations that can be awarded on a Good, Better, Best scale. Not compatible with points funding.
  • Boost Approval: Approvers can approve a nomination by awarding points. The number of points can be dictated by pre-determined quantities or a custom amount. Boost Approval is compatible with points funding, where the amount approved is pulled from the approver's funding balance.

Additional Actions

  • Edit recognition story before approving.
  • Change award level or nomination category if workflow allows.
  • Add approver comments for multi-step reviews.
  • Pass notes to the next approver in the chain for context.
  • Leave a comment for the recipient if desired.

Best practice: Use comments to share the reasoning behind your decision. This helps build trust and consistency in the approval process.
